Gratitude

What a powerful feeling gratitude gives a person. When you focus on
gratitude for the people around you, for the things you own or have
access to, for the opportunities that come your way and for your own
abilities – even for just being able to close your eyes and breathe
gently, you cannot help but feel happier.

The next time you feel like grumbling about traffic, prices, lineups,
lost items, etc, stop, close your eyes and feel grateful you have the
ability to drive, buy, line up…and have things to lose. Gratitude
trumps frustration any day – any day you want it to.

Slogans

Have you tried using catch phrases and slogans? Sure, they are
cheesy, but short, memorable snippets can help one focus one’s mind.


For instance, if you have a penchant for procrastination, “The
early bird gets the worm” can help. Repeating a phrase like that
each time you feel like procrastinating could help you pull yourself
up by the proverbial bootstraps and get moving.

You might need to create your own slogan if, for example, you are not
one of the many people inspired by worms. “First in gets the biggest
cookie.” “Get in while the fruit is fresh.” “Early to theatre,
get a seat.” You get the idea.

Happiness

This is the day you get to make the big decision. You can choose to
let happiness find you from time to time, when it happens to be
passing through.
